There's No Place Like Home

We had a fabulous time on our cruise!! Ben and I were total bums; it was so wonderful. I think I averaged 14 hours of sleep each day, read two wonderful books in three days, played hours of Sudoku, talked Ben's ear off, and ate lots of food.

And Sadie, just as everyone predicted, did wonderful. She went to sleep without fussing, bonded with my dad, played and laughed all day (according to reports), and seemed totally content.

However, by Monday she and I both became a little anxious to be reunited. I think four days was one too many for us and for our first time apart.

I think my favorite part of the whole trip was the excitement at seeing her again and watching her light up when she saw us. It was really, really nice to relax; but it is really, really, really nice to be back home, too!

(Ben and Alicia shown above in the Bahamas)

(Ben put up a bit of a fight when I asked him to pose for this picture, but he cooperated in the end)

(Did I ever mention they accidentally booked us a room with bunk beds? Lori, I will never forget how hard you laughed when I told you!)

(They were kind of cool, though)

(But, Ben was able to push the beds together, so it all worked out in the end :)

(And then, we came home and were greeted by this cute little face!)

Ahhh....life is good!

Oh Alicia, Have I ever told you how I LOVE reading your blog. You make me laugh so hard. And yes, I laughed out loud when I saw the bunk beds. Thats hilarious!! I'm so jealous you were able to go on a cruise. Kyle and I are trying to plan a trip out to FL. I'm totally up for something when you're out here. We were actually going to try to get together on the 16th for Katy and do lunch or something for a little baby shower. You in? Call me when you get to UT. I still have the same number 727-385-1060. See you sooooooon!!

Alicia---I almost laughed harder when I saw the photo! I meant to tell you that your room steward should be able to push them together for you...that's what you pay them the big bucks for, but I see that Ben does just as good in a pinch! Sadie looked extremely happy and content on Sunday, and Fisher even spotted her and waved! Glad to see you enjoyed yourself!

Wow, the water in that shot looks absolutely amazing! Maybe I'll get up the courage to do a cruise sometime. I swear I have developed the most irrational fears ever since having children (in the case of a cruise, what if I fall overboard?! See? Irrational). And I am glad that you guys had such a nice time despite the bunk bed mixup! "Come what may and love it," right? :)

I know Chante! It's like they light the water from underneath or something. It really does look just like that, maybe even better in person.

Lori, I'm happy to hear Sadie looked content. My parents said she almost fell asleep on my dad's lap during sacrament meeting. That's amazing for her!

Yes, but your dad said your mom kept telling him NOT to let her fall asleep b/c then she wouldn't sleep at home, and no one would get a nap! :)

Now for the true story... the boat you see in the background of the picture was not really ours, only the one we WISH we had booked. I'm sure that boat offers a bed for two, hot showers, more ice cream flavors than just chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry (and I bet they'd even put it in a cone with sprinkles on top at no extra charge), more to drink than luke warm water, freshly made food served at all hours of the day, table service, a ping-pong ball for the ping-pong table, a foosball for the foosball table, and probably even customer service.

Ah but who needs all that - we LOVED our little boat, and our bunk beds, and our vanilla ice cream in a plastic cup, and our stale pizza with ketchup sauce, and being treated like 2nd class citizens because we stood in the wrong line and made reservations for the wrong restaurant, and our cold showers, and... I could go on and on...

In all reality, we truly loved not having any responsibility, not having any cell phone service, being able to relax and spend time together. The Bahamas were really fun and the on-board entertainment was pretty good. So all in all, we'd do it again, we'd just pick a different cruise line!
